Pros

AttainX is a small business that supports the government though professional services contracts. Working for a small company and supporting the government I am frequently challenged to find creative ways to meet the demands of our clients. I really enjoy having the independence to solve problems and to contribute to the long term company culture of rising to the occasion. As someone who worked for other companies in the same space, both large and small, I am very happy to have the flexibility to collaborate with my peers and define how we operate. Building a company with other dedicated staff who have the same work ethic is both energizing and rare. I’ve had this experience at only one other position and count myself lucky that I get to experience this team dynamic a second time. Finally, I enjoy working at a company that recognizes hard work. This is not a nine to five job with a clock in and clock out culture. In this environment, success is measured by delivery. It’s been my experience that we’re rewarded for our success and given the latitude to adjust when our work isn’t going as planned. This means we’re afforded both financial and professional freedom. For a professional who isn’t afraid or reluctant to roll up their sleeves I think AttainX is an ideal fit.

Cons

Infrequently, the hours can be long and unpredictable. This is the nature of government contract work, alas, and sometimes we have a week or two of sprints. Working with others who have a strong work ethic takes the sting out of this though and this is more an issue with the type of work than the company itself.

Pros

Little to no management interference in day-to-day job

Cons

Annual leave is capped at 2 weeks regardless of experience level and is not negotiable. Benefits are subpar - expensive insurance and vesting schedule means shorter contracts will not get any company matching funds for 401K. While I did not get a lowball offer, most other individuals I know did and declined to join the company.
