Pros

* Competitive pay * Good work life balance * Most engineers you work with at the Cambridge office and the SEs abroad are kind, helpful, and competent (not necessarily the case with Newark employees)

Cons

* Not enough interesting work to go around these days - more investment in the LA office and keeping projects in Newark * Very bad metrics for promotion, if your team doesn't have headlining projects that are going well you are pretty much out of luck * The turnover at this office has been absolutely insane. Almost 100% of the management turned over since I started and basically every good employee has left or is looking for a way out (or is staying because work-life balance and good pay is worth staying on a sinking ship for a little longer depending on where they are in their personal lives). * As my headline shows, I was sexually assaulted by a coworker at Audible. I was encouraged by some people to report it and it was the worst mistake of my life. The situation was handled by one of the most horrendous people I could imagine. He forced me to hold his hands and look at him as he told me it was okay even though I was clearly uncomfortable with every part of this. He also harassed other coworkers into giving personal messages that painted an incomplete picture (who exactly is telling everyone every detail after an attack?) and those were taken as gospel over other testimony, sometimes from those same friends. He closed the investigation early even though I had several friends that were willing to give more evidence who were there that night because "he didn't want it to get too big". At the end of the ordeal he literally told me to "get some hobbies." I'd always had hobbies, but the suicidal depression spiral that man sent me into made it take years to be able to return to those hobbies. And no, there were absolutely no consequences to the person who assaulted me despite learning later that I was not the first nor the last person who had come forward about him. I have nothing but bad things to say about the "investigation" where I was treated like an antagonist the whole time and basically treated like a little girl. It took probably a full two years off of my career (I was a high performing employee before this absolute nightmare), was incredibly traumatic, and I would recommend that if something similar happens to you at this company I would advise you tell everyone and anyone before HR. Honestly, just get out of there if it happens to you because they do not care. They would rather keep around one mediocre man than keep their employees safe.

Pros

Lots of great collaboration, get to work with a lot of smart people from different backgrounds and Audible/Amazon offers lots of trainings/workshops for new technology. There is always something you can learn!

Cons

Communication needs improvement, lack of career roadmap/leveling for contractors and several recent layoffs (these are specific to contractors)
