      Pros

      You get paid to do research. There's academic freedom in whichever direction you choose to pursue. They don't force you to choose any specific advisor.

      Cons

      Very little flexibility in terms of taking time off for grad students. For out of country travels, you need five different people to sign off and it's very hard to travel during the semester for whatever reasons.

      Pros

      Met lots of people and developed my networking skills. Was adequately prepared to be a presenter at the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop (SROW).

      Cons

      Not the fault of the office or school; smaller campus just meant fewer people and opportunities.

      Pros

      Teaches you how to be organized, meet a lot of great people, benefits are decent

      Cons

      Pay is terrible. Leadership does not care about you. You get in trouble for clocking in 7 or 8 mins too early or too late (point system). No career conversations. No career pathing. It isn't normal to want to talk about your career.
