Pros

AISD provided us with paid professional development opportunities throughout the year offsite as well as on our campus. We received good benefits and the ability to voice our opinions on different topics, small and large.

Cons

The workload was extremely stressful and continually increased with administrative tasks, lack of resources when it came to classroom materials in all subjects, lack of support when it came to problem-solving. When it came to expanding on career opportunities there were none whatsoever. Once a teacher, always a teacher. If you want to move up you have to get a higher degree and compete with a lot of individuals who want limited openings each year. Even then your chances are low of moving up the latter.

Pros

Decent pay and good PTO.

Cons

Demanding schedules. Administration doesn't communicate well, and budget cuts make the job harder.
