Pros
Content Specialists are dispatched to help teachers focus on "teaching to the STAAR test".
Cons
Teaching to the test with goals that do not consider or match where students are academically. Goals are unrealistic. An inherently biased, Social Justice agenda has infiltrated all levels of academia for students, forgoing foundational basics that tend to produce higher level thinkers and successful humans. There is a significant increase in enrollment from students who do not speak English, including those who have had no formal, consistent education. Services and funding is being re-allocated to address these growing needs without overall budget increases. Principals have the discretion to remove the performance of these students from the teacher evaluation process. Massive use of favoritism. At some schools, non-Spanish speaking staff are almost treated like "outsiders" or second class employees. Excessive staff development, lack of focus upon student discipline and behavioral expectations.
