Cons
AISD is complicit in providing unsafe conditions for students in which they're treated as prisoners rather than students- and children! The administration was completely uninterested and unable in attempting to change this. The school was completely out of control and the administration was completely unable to manage the students. This is not the fault of the students, it's the fault of the adults who are supposed to be in charge. As flawed as the administration was, I am appalled that AISD has allowed this to happen. The students learned that nothing was expected of them at school, and they routinely learned absolutely nothing. The fact that this school is 99.9% black, brown and low-income serves as an absolutely chilling reminder that AISD has completely abandoned one sector of the population while funneling money to wealthier, whiter schools. What I experienced and witnessed at this school is unconscionable: 21st century segregation at is absolute worst. There was a mass exodus of staff at the end of the school year, many who admitted they didn't have jobs lined up; I wish they would have been honest about what drove them out.
