Pros

As with any school district, the time off you receive is a definite plus. AISD also pays in to social security. There are lots of faculty and staff members who truly love what they do and LOVE the students we serve. The campus I worked at was a challenge, but the students were great and parents did their best to support their child.

Cons

Work life balance is non existant. If you do everything administrators expect you to do, then there is no time for a life, just work. Teacher pay is not competitive at all. Nor does it pay enough to live in the city. Not all schools are created equally. There are schools falling apart at the seams while other schools are architectural wonders. Lots of last minute initiatives are pushed out, with no time to adjust or implement. Top heavy leadership at district level. Admin at campus and district level don't seem to care that some of us. I feel like I've spent more time working for other people's children than my own. It can be a challenge to secure a non classroom position if you don't know the right person.

Pros

Decent pay and good PTO.

Cons

Demanding schedules. Administration doesn't communicate well, and budget cuts make the job harder.
