Pros
The families and kiddos you meet are wonderful. Some of AISD programs are pretty awesome (Art, movement, tech-focused programs that can come with a designated coach or instructor that visits your campus routinely)--if you can get them at your school.
Cons
Austin ISD does not pay competitively, insurance is okay, and it harbors all of the usual problems in teaching--too much admin, insufficient classroom support, incredibly long hours (yet you still feel like you're not doing enough), and *extreme* disparity in resource access between schools depending on where the school is located. Teachers carry a heavy load, and the district does not seem to have the resources or urgency to offer them support or help. And the pay is so low that making your bills can be very difficult.
