Supervisors need to be more consistent with communication - Behavior Interventionist Autism Spectrum Therapies Employee Review

Pros

Pay was more than my previous job In the beginning I got overtime on every paycheck

Cons

They make you feel really supported during training and during maybe your first client then the communication is dropped off to almost nonexistent. Supervisors fail to pass on crucial information that can affect sessions or relationships with client parents. Inexperienced BI's are often guinea pigs for extremely difficult clients that have never had services before. Don't ever make any kind of comments about drive time. They'll take you from 40+ overtime to barely getting enough hours to qualify for benefits or money to pay your bills. New BI's are given client priority over employees that have worked there longer. If there's a gap in your schedule it'll be there for months. I often felt chastised by my supervisor and that they left out information because they didn't like me.

Pros

Flexibility. woman-led field. frequent pay raises. overtime opportunities.

Cons

Clinical director lives across the country so is not as easily accessible or truly aware of staff dynamics and issues. before AST was bought out by LEARN, they did 401K matching, that's no more. No more sick time off, it's all just lumped into your PTO. Issues with staff take too long to be resolved. Depending on the BCBA you get placed with, you'll either have lots of great support or none at all.
