Pros

Relaxed atmosphere you can wear just about anything to work (except your pajama's) They are really flexible with the staff as far as working hours go, it truly helps the single parent trying to balance daycare and work times. You can walk into almost any of the senior managers offices and have a chat. Not a high pressure job don't go home feeling overwhelmed most days.

Cons

PTO could be better. you don't gain any more time after 5 years of service I have never seen that in a company before. Better health care plans. They have one that is expensive and doesn't really make it family friendly for the lower income workers. Managers are not uniform in how the employees are dealt with. In one dept you can have someone that doesn't show up in a timely manner and nothing is done but in another they are fired. Seems there is some favoritism in the company and it goes all the way to the president.

Pros

Met some absolutely lovely people, was excited to work for previous management when hired

Cons

Recently, Auto/Mate was acquired by a much, much larger company called DealerSocket. While they've done everything they can to say nothing will change, unfortunately I don't believe you spend the (rumored) kind of money DS did to not make changes. This was a once fun, family-like company that will soon be wrung of all it's charms in place of a much more sterile, corporate approach. After reading most of the reviews, I can vouch for a few things. There are a lot of people at this company who have been doing what they do for a very long time. I think there is going to be reckoning of old school seniority meeting new school "what have you done for me lately" approach that values productivity over all other metrics. The Auto/Mate of the last 30 years or so is no longer what you will be applying to or seeing reviews of. Going forward, I don't know how many of these testimonials really apply. It has become a different company, and one I wish I was made aware of prior to joining the company.
