Pros
Fellow co-workers that are like-minded in that we're in this industry to put people's lives back together while working for a company that *for the most part* does the right thing for its policyholders agents and associates. We are a top rated insurance company and our policyholders and agents enjoy doing business with us. We also have a pension which is nice once you put the time in.
Cons
Salary determination is a closed door conversation that only the highest levels of leadership get to decide. Same with how many people we can hire. Salaries on the business side are on the low end and make it difficult to compete with other carriers after a while. I've heard IT salaries are better but I can't say for certain. There are few new benefits to lure good people in. We have a pension which is nice once you put the time in (5 years to become vested then wait until your retirement age to draw.) Company culture hasn't embraced national culture of immediate gratification.
