Great company with excellent opportunities to grow and advance. I have been with AvalonBay for 9yrs now and started out as a Maintenance Tech 2. Avalonbay has given me the chance to grow and learn as AvalonBay has grown. What you put in is what you get out. Excellent work/family life company. It is great how AvalonBay gives back to its communities and charity. Avalonbay also offers relocation opportunities as they are in several states and different cities nationally. I have worked in NY, NJ and CA. Now I have become a Maintenance Manager with aspirations of becoming a director of a region in a few yrs. Pay and benefits are very competitive. Avalonbay also offers housing discounts as well to its employees.
Cons
Pay can always be better. Sometimes during annual lease renewal avalonbay raises your rent outrageously but if you call and dispute they lower it a little. Do not get comfortable in one property as AvalonBay likes you to move and take on new challenges. Need to hire more on site help especially during the summer months with the heavy workload and large rent increases be prepared for overtime.
