Pros

Good collaboration and teamwork in the development group. The team completed quality work, seemingly against the odds, on several occasions. Most developers are hourly, so no long days.

Cons

The company does not care about its employees. There were safety and health concerns related to an awful smell in the secure room. Management was slow to address these concerns and the first effort was to send someone down to smell the room and call the employees “babies.” Work was ultimately done, but the issue was not resolved. What could be more important than the health of your employees? As mentioned in another review, compensation issues went unresolved for months. The company does not get why the way employees make their livelihood is important. It is important to employees, but not to management. Turnover is very high. It is a revolving door. People who work hard to meet deadlines are let go. People who have opinions are let go. The point of these reviews is to help prospective employees understand what a mess they would be getting involved in. Hopefully, you read this and decide to keep looking.

Pros

The company is growing a lot. New contracts have necessitated increasing the staff. This has opened opportunities for the existing staff. Avatar likes to promote from within and has done so consistently. Avatar has also paid for the training of employees in fields that support their duties. It is a great work environment.

Cons

There are very tight deadlines that must be met for our military customers which can be strenuous. Also critical KPIs are set which the company expects to be met, or a reasonable reason why not and what will be done to fix it.

Pros

Work From Home Flexible Work Hours (As long as targets are met) Salary was competitive Great Design and Development Team (or whats left)

Cons

The largest issue for Avatar is the lack of ability to gain new contracts and have a pipeline of future contracts. During my time at Avatar, I was laid off twice due to "lack of work."
