Pros

Pay is decent for the talent they typically are recruiting for (construction technologists), fully remote is a pro for work-life balance, benefits are pretty good (health, vision, dental).

Cons

1- Unlimited PTO does not ACTUALLY exist here. You will try to take it, and then be denied, or told you're too busy to take it, but for... months on end. 2- They read every message you send in Slack, including personal ones, to control the remote culture. 3- Turnover is high because the smart ones leave. Your team will shift every 2-6 weeks, depending on your team. 4- They have a bad reputation in the industry. They lost a major contract because of their... handling of things.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time at Avicado Construction Technology Services. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Regarding your points: PTO Policy: We aim to be transparent and fair with our PTO policy. In 2023, our records show that the average employee took 35 days off. We continually strive to ensure all team members can enjoy their well-deserved time off and will look into any discrepancies that might prevent this. Privacy and Communication: We respect and protect the privacy of our team members. As per Slack's policies, we do not have the capability to read private messages without explicit legal authority or consent. We encourage open and secure communication across all levels of our organization. Employee Tenure: We are proud to have a median tenure of 2.3 years, which is robust within our industry. This indicates that many of our team members find value and satisfaction in their roles and the culture at Avicado. Sincerely, Avi Levin President of Avicado, LLC

Pros

Your experience here depends entirely on your manager. Work-from-home environment (different than the relaxed remote work environment they promote)

Cons

The title is correct, although the force I speak of is not forceful, They track your contributions (with identification of who said what), if you don't contribute a rating its a strike in their log. They will likely comment back saying this isn't true, but I have seen the platform. If you are here, it is likely because you are curious of the too-good-to-be-true facade or because you felt like you were going to be fired in a recent meeting with your boss - you have one more of those meetings before you are actually fired, three strikes rule entirely based on what your manager tells their manager. There are some incredible people that work at this company but unfortunately it is still full of egocentric individuals. I hate to say that some of the kind people are likely just putting on a front, the energy is so high that its hard to see through the fog sometimes. Don't over extend yourself at the beginning because the moment you have something else going on in your life, they will move on to the nest person. It is really sad to see the constant and ruthless turnover. Finally, this company is contributing to the builds of AI data centers in the US - the same data centers that are disrupting power grids and drying up resources in rural America. Do with that information what you will.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. At Avicado, feedback is part of how we operate. We ask every team member to participate in surveys because we want to hear from everyone, what’s working and what’s not. If we don’t get input, we can’t get better. We value honesty over comfort, and we reward people who speak up. Our culture is built on caring deeply and challenging directly. We believe in accountability, clarity, and growth—for both our managers and our teams. Expectations are high, and so is the support we offer to help people meet them. We’re proud of the work we do and the people who choose to be part of it. We’ll continue to listen, learn, and improve through open and candid feedback from those who engage in good faith. We wish you continued success in your next chapter. - Avi Levin
