Pros
A lot of the other reviews mention the culture as a positive, and I firmly believe that that's true. The leadership does a good job of leading by example, of pushing employees to move forward and keep getting better, and of really, truly caring about the employees. One of the employees was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma recently, and you would not believe some of the things that the company has done for him as he goes through his fight. Seriously, you literally would not believe it. I am challenged nearly every day - whether by a new technology, by a new problem or wrinkle to figure out, or by trying to shape the culture and direction of Aviture itself. That's right, I'm a software engineer and I get to think about and actually work to change how Aviture does things, software-related or not. I've done things while working here that I tell other people about and they raise their eyebrows and say things like "... aren't you a programmer?" All that is to say that Aviture is a perfect environment for jobcrafting - for finding out what you love and working to make your job involve more of that, all the while surrounded by really fricking smart people who teach me stuff constantly, and continually push me to fulfill my own potential. All the other benefits are great, but this is the best perk I've ever had. The 10c soda doesn't hurt, either. PS: This reads like astroturfing but I swear I'm for real. Keep reading...
Cons
The greatest perk of working at Aviture is also the greatest downfall of working there, depending on how you personally like to work. This is not a place you're going to work your 40 and go home and completely forget about the place until Monday. That's not to say you'll be working a lot of overtime, but... I mentioned the jobcrafting thing - it's not just a perk of working there, it's pretty much required to excel. There's also the fact that things change rapidly and frequently, and the pace of work can seem awfully fast right after you've started. I've seen a lot of people get the hang of it and really shine, but I've seen other people feel like they got run over by an oncoming bus and nobody's coming to see if they're okay. They have made and are continuing to make changes, but if you aren't great at making yourself heard and going to knock on important people's doors, you might not feel like you're succeeding there. That's not to say you'll be fired or you won't be appreciated, but raises and bonuses aren't automatic like some other places. Also, the way Aviture works is focused on problem-solving, so there's a lot of the job (but not TOO much of it) that isn't necessarily coding. That can frustrate some people, too. I'll say this without reservation - if you just want to come to work, grab a ticket, turn it into code, and repeat, this is NOT going to be a good fit for you. Finally, Aviture is a consulting firm and not a startup, so there's no piles of VC cash flying around. That means that despite the good benefits, there's only cleaning service once a week, and management can sometimes be slow to fix things that are fixable with an application of money.
