Pros
Casual dress, very flexible scheduling, free lunch Fridays, competitive pay. Since there are so many projects going on and new ones popping up frequently, there is great opportunity to move around, learn new tech if you want, and move into higher leadership roles. I think that the single best thing about Aviture is that most of the time you will be working with modern tech and keeping your skills sharp.
Cons
The vacation time seems generous, but when you factor in that the company has NO paid holidays and you have to use your vacation time, the overall vacation benefit is average compared to other companies. It seems that the most common way to get hired at Aviture is via referral. Although this is good at ensuring getting talented people, it seems have made it into a very cliquey environment. Where people come in with a certain group of friends and always hang out exclusively. Sometimes it feels like high school. Management seems to make a lot of policies that fizzle out or never really come to fruition. For example, expanding the building space into the "garage" area. A very large area that is 90% empty, and for several years we have been told would be furnished into this amazing space that has never happened. There was also the "professional development" policy, where every employee would have X$ budget towards conferences and/or equipment every year. That lasted maybe a few months then mysteriously stopped. It's pretty rare for anybody to go to conferences (paid for by the company) and much harder to get a new laptop now. Although it is a "flat" hierarchy, it is obvious that certain people are valued more than others. This is very apparent when employees leave. Some will get a farewell speech from the CEO, others will get a blanket email sent out on their last day. Very high turnover on the business side. There have been many high level business executives hired over the past few years, most of which left within their first year. I'm not sure why exactly, but I don't think it speaks well of upper management.
