Pros

Great coworkers in the trenches, above average CEO leadership with Rick Hamada, and a company funded pension plan.

Cons

Management can't be trusted-dishonesty and favoritism are huge issues here. Completely unattainable quotas lead to constant layoffs and career growth is extremely limited (unless you are OK with moving to Arizona). Even if you do succeed, there are caps to commissions that do not reward you for exceptional performance. More workload, longer hours, and worse year over year pay were the norm here. Avnet will do everything imaginable to limit your earning potential, and it shows in the rock bottom morale among its employees. The only thing keeping most Avnet employees in Colorado going is their base salary from when they were GE employees-and the fact that the job market is awful. If you value a steady paycheck over building a career and are OK with working long hours on salary (overtime for hourly employees is limited) with very poor commission earning potential, this is the company for you. Avnet does offer a good opportunity to learn the business and build relationships before you move on to a company that will pay you for success and reward you with opportunity for career advancement.

Pros

If you value stability and job security, this is the place to be. Avnet benefits from all the business being routed in from semiconductor companies. Good work life balance.

Cons

Insurance and benefits could be better.
