Pros
Axon is fast-paced, challenging, rewarding, and fun. The team is built around a shared culture of making a difference and pursuing hard goals. It makes the tough days worth it when you know you're all working collectively to build something better and it makes the achievements even better when we succeed. Additionally, we have unlimited PTO which essentially means that as long as you are achieving the results asked you can take time off as you need. Compensation may not be at the top of the market but does feel fair for the flexibility. In terms of leadership - we benefit immensely from still being founder-lead. Rick is a great visionary who ensures that Axon stays a fun place to work despite focusing on meaningful societal problems. Overall I recommend Axon to anyone who could be a fit here, though that doesn't mean I'd recommend it to everyone which I discuss in the cons section.
Cons
Things Axon doesn't do: 1) You will likely not have a standards/consistent schedule. If you're someone who like to plan your day/week out fully and deviations stress you out, this probably isn't the place for you. 2) If you want a clear career path that you can follow this also may not be the best place. While certain roles have clearer progressions, a lot of what makes Axon great is that if you are a fit for the company they work with you to figure out how to enable your growth outside your current team. That does require much more proactive engagement though then standard career tracts at other companies. 3) Employer sponsored education - we have access to LinkedIn Learning but that's more or less the extent of formal company sponsored educational advancement. 4) Tolerate mediocrity - Axon continues to raise the bar of expectations for employees and expects everyone to continue to rise to meet that bar. The reward for good work is more work. It's not a place to coast but that's why we've performed as well as we have as consistently as we have.
