Pros

This company used to be top tier and used to trust their employees. You work from home, and some autonomy.

Cons

They stopped caring and trusting their employees. I’ve been here a few years now and they have laid off a ridiculous amount of people and have now taken jobs away from Americans and moved positions offshore to try and save a few bucks, but won’t close their giant ‘campus’ or their Padres box to save people’s job. Leadership doesn’t care about their people anymore or trust their employees to do their jobs and are adding more onto Account Managers plates to see who will fail so they can reduce their salaries or just let them go all together. They care more about micromanaging everyone and finding things for leadership to do and to push on their employees instead of caring and trusting their people. It’s so incredibly sad and disappointing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re disappointed to hear about your perception of Aya and our leadership. We recognize that recent changes have been difficult. These restructuring decisions were not made lightly, nor from a place of financial hardship. They’re part of a broader strategy to increase access to care and reduce overall healthcare costs. Investing in automation and offshoring select administrative functions allows us to remain competitive and scale effectively, which ultimately protects the long-term opportunities for our organization and teams. These changes impact a small portion of our corporate workforce, and for those affected, we’ve offered generous severance and extended benefits to help ease the transition. We understand that some perks, like our campus or suite, might be viewed as nonessential, but we believe they aid in providing a best-in-class employee experience which is essential to attracting and retaining the talent that will shape Aya’s future. We remain deeply grateful to every team member who’s helped drive our growth. While not everyone will agree with every decision, please know we’re committed to thoughtful, long-term choices that support both our mission and our people. If you're open to sharing more about your experience, we’d welcome the opportunity to learn from it. Please reach out to Amber Zeeb, our Chief People Officer, at feedback@ayahealthcare.com.

Pros

Working from home is the only real perk. The PTO policy looks good until you try to use it. Time off has to be approved months in advance, and you’re made to feel guilty for taking it because you’ll lose business and fall behind on unrealistic metrics. A benefit isn’t much of a benefit when you’re afraid to use it.

Cons

The micromanagement has reached an uncomfortable level. For years, recruiters were expected to record conversations without candidates’ consent. Now, with the new phone systems, managers can monitor text messages and listen to calls. None of this is going to improve business outcomes or recreate the profits the company saw during the COVID hiring boom. On top of that, employees are made to feel like they are constantly on performance improvement plans, with unrealistic goals that are nearly impossible to meet. Targets are frequently adjusted or moved altogether, making it extremely difficult to hit metrics, earn bonuses, or make a meaningful income. It creates a sense that no matter how hard you work, success is always just out of reach. Leadership has become increasingly unprofessional and, in many cases, unqualified. Fear and constant surveillance seem to have replaced trust as the primary management strategy. The compensation is no longer competitive enough to justify the environment. As for the “Aya Listens” surveys, it’s hard not to question whether they’re truly intended to gather honest feedback or simply identify employees who are speaking up.
