Pros

There are many nice customers coming through your line who make your day.

Cons

There are several supervisors who think they know everything and refuse to listen to their fellow employees who never attended college. They would constantly cut hours, and full-time for the company is 30 hours. I was on their health insurance, and would they consistently cut my hours to the point where I almost was kicked off of their insurance. There were front end supervisors who had worked there less time than me who became supervisors. Many cashiers would come to me asking for help because most supervisors would retaliate against them. All the people in management who were excellent would move onto another store in the company. Their benefits are an absolute joke, as it cost nearly $150 per paycheck for insurance. B & R also self insures and likes to fire people just before their one year "evaluation", as you have to work for the company for at least one year to become an employee owner. They are always understaffed and likes to set up cashiers and courtesy clerks for failure. I had times when I was the only register open and there were at least eight people waiting in line and after calling more help, nobody would show up. The same thing would happen when I needed a courtesy clerk. They also give very little notice about your upcoming hours, and our store's HR person also worked at another B & R store and was "fake nice".

Hard work, if you're afraid of getting dirty, it's not for you! Salary employees work 45-50+ per week! Not a lot of Flexible scheduling, unless you work at the home office!

Pros

There's some freedom to produce how you want, but mostly a hierarchy.

Cons

You will be yelled at in Grocery retail. You may be subject to uncomfortable situations. And the President might yell at your Supervisor, because of you!
