Good employees benefits such as cycle to work scheme, discounts (e.g. shopping vouchers, gym membership), shares scheme, work place pension, flexi scheme. Employee tool available to submit any ideas or improvements which are dealt with by a dedicated team, showing commitment from the business that they are listening to their employees. Mental Heath First Aiders and an Employee Assistance Programme both great for supporting employees in a personal and confidential manner. Great early career programmes with lots of training, development and varied placements. Global organisation so opportunity to work at other business units across the globe.
Cons
Silos across the business therefore standardisation cannot be achieved in reporting and processes. Slow progression - some nepotism exists. Under-resourced teams - doesn't help that flexi scheme has been abused e.g. too much working from home, teams not all in the office at the same time. Poor leadership across the business - 'old school' ways of working and managing. Annual employee survey with limited action on the results. Slow responses to HR queries. Inconsistent Ts&C's across those with the same role title. Little training available due to budget constraints (except those on early career programmes). Lots of low morale across the business and across programmes. No performance management whatsoever means high performers are treated the same as ineffective employees. Lessons learned captured at the end of projects and not throughout - LFE is critical on such long programmes and the current process is not effective at all and could save a lot of rework if embedded in the business culture.
