Pros

It was a good way to get my foot in the door of the contracting community but that's about the only benefit

Cons

Not sure where the whole "good pay" thing I keep seeing in the pro's is coming from, BAE employees at wallops island are underpaid an average of 10k for all positions except for higher management. Classic "we care" company when in reality you are simply a number to them. They screwed with my pay and then tried to chastise me when I put my 2 weeks notice in as if I had betrayed them. They WILL expect you to bend over backwards to accommodate their work requests. Which is fine to a point but if you let them they will simply become more demanding with no compensation. Good luck not getting thrown under the bus by upper management, they tried to do that to me not even a month after giving me employee of the month. Luckily I had proof of my innocence. After that the person who tried to throw me under the bus continued to try and make my life difficult. Don't expect them to hire legitimately qualified people. They hired an individual for a communications related job.....the individual spoke virtually no English.

Pros

Flexibility in work The few remaining coworkers from the Ball days are great Can bank 400 hours of PTO

Cons

Since the transition from ball to bae, the company has decided to try and make life as unhappy as possible. They removed 2 weeks from our short term disability leave (was 6weeks for giving birth) They got rid of our sick time and made it all PTO and that transition caused us to lose time off in total Refuse to promote despite the levels changing and years of experience needed being lowered. They have capped the number of promotions a year then tell us that isn’t true and then refuse to do promotions that are desperately needed. Instead of promoting or giving decent raises they lose great people and constantly have to hire from outside for more than it probably cost to just promote. They started searching our bags? Random bag checks were just implemented. Getting anything approved is impossible (especially technology or training) Attrition is getting out of hand but all hands say everything is great despite everyone asking what they will do to help keep talent Pay is not keeping up and if you are an overachiever you will never be paid for that effort
