Pros

Despite some of the changes over the years, benefits remain top-notch - good healthcare options, exceptional vacation and sick leave (though this policy is not enforced consistently enough from manager-to-manager, dept-to-dept, or LOB-to-LOB), one of the few firms (let alone banks) to offer a pension, and good enough 401(k) plan. Salaries tend to be slightly below market, but the benefit package will overcome some of that.

Cons

Tremendously different culture than that of 10-15 years ago. The bank's growth to a top-10 institution has created a bit of an unwieldy animal. Most roles now have multiple layers of middle management above them, which has started to dissolve what used to be one of the company's strengths - the transparency in decision-making, strategy, and outlook from senior leadership. This is likely not a conscious decision of mgmt., but, rather, the unfortunate byproduct of a transition from a mid-size regional "community" bank to a top-10 SIFI firm. However, as mgmt. continues to preach employee engagement, but, the further you get from Winston-Salem, the harder it is to see that engagement, it begins to sound disingenuous.
