Pros

Lots of work to do, never a dull moment. BDO is growing.

Cons

If you work for any of the support services, such as finance or IT, you are treated as overhead and have no real career path or path to becoming a parnter or upper management. Support departments are woefully understaffed and underfunded, but the business lines complain that we aren't doing enough for them and are not completing work in a timely fashion. Core values and work life balance are spouted at management meetings, but the people exemplified by management are those who forego having a life and work days on end without breaks. 12+ hour days and lots of calls on nights and weekends are the norm, not the exception.

I 100% agree with your "advice:; we are and should be judged and known by how we behave not by what we say. Now, there is no doubt in periods of rapid growth infrastructure gets burdened bur we are all committed to continuing investments in our core business services. We see every CBS leader as "upper management" so I have to disagree with you on that point. As to career path, we have celebrated many career progressions of our CBS professionals and do have partners leading finance, marketing/communications and HR, so I believe we have made meaningful progress in demonstrating the respect and value of CBS contributions. By the way, your term "support services" doesn't begin to reflect the true value and place of CBS professionals, which is why you will never hear our CEO use that phrase.

Pros

Consultants were not overworked, and people are generally staying in their own lane. Strong knowlegeable teammates and lots of internal resources to grow. Work life balance was good.

Cons

I left during a time of transition, since the top practice director retired and the EBA leader took over as interim leader. This interim guy seemed to be waiting for something to take any action with current resources, and he was not too interested in rallying or figuring things out as a team. If he had expectations, they were never communicated to me. The lack of clarity was very challenging for me personally, and it came off as a lack of support. I think others in the team probably feel similarly.
