Pros
- Very nice people to work with - Generous benefits (I read that 12 weeks parental leave is now a thing?) - C-Suite is generally very approachable (including Benson) - Awesome gym at Tukwila HQ - Nice trail on campus to take a walk - Incredible work/life balance - Great pay
Cons
- Outdated technology (I believe we were on Windows 7? when I was there) - S-L-O-W with both people and processes. There were days when I had nothing to do at all, and it felt totally normal. - The campus is in the middle of a very depressing industrial nook off the I-5 bend near the airport. This has to be one of the biggest cons. I think I was one of maybe 2 people I met that lived up in Seattle and commuted down to the Tukwila. Most everyone I knew there commuted from the south so it was a benefit for them. I struggled with depression there because of the dull/drab setting, and honestly didn't realize how much of an effect the local setting/surrounding had on me. It's a bummer, because the office itself is quite nice and bright. It's just the local area is the worst. I know BECU struggles with retaining younger staff, and I would honestly attribute that to the fact that no one wants to commute down there from Seattle and/or work there.
