That being said, Belay does not really care about their contractors, in my opinion. They do not provide any recognition or seniority for those that have been there for years. There is a chance at a $1 raise after each year you complete. They will not reach out to you to congratulate you on the time spent working for them, or if you're doing a great job with a client. There is no room for advancement. This is not a company that you can build a career out of or move up in the company, and there are no paid benefits. Unless your client buys out your contract from Belay (for an extremely hefty price) there is no opportunity to grow in your career. Now if you are lucky enough to get bought out by your client it is a great way to move up in your position that way, but do not bank on it. Lastly, even if you are skillful and you were hired on, you still have to compete with all the other VA's for a client. You may seem like the perfect candidate, and maybe even Belay reached out to you and said you'd be a great fit for this specific client, and they can still choose someone else over you. It's a little disheartening to be asked to interview for a client and get excited about it, just to be told they've selected another VA.
