Pros

Wages and benefits are attractive, however that is because turnover has been so high that salaries have had to been upgraded in order to keep people.

Cons

it is a matrix organization that results in departments being pitted against each other - plant managers do not report to the head of someone in the US but rather report to a group executive in South Africa. Company has not grown organically (in spite of the strong auto industry sales in the US) but rather gains have been made only by reductions, expense slashing and restructuring - it is not growing based on new business - quality problems with production mishaps are due to the lack of investment in new equipment

One of the worst onboarding experiences I have been apart of. Since day 1, there have been zero expectations or guidance from the manager. The individual training has basically passed off all topics and files off with zero background knowledge and the cadence of how things operate. It was then expected of me to lead everything in the first 25 days of being on the team. As you could imagine, this has led to direct failure of tasks to be completed. The individual training does not appear to actually want to train, but rather move on to their new role and just get everything off their plate and expect you to understand all topics immediately. Unfortunately, not sure how long this will last and if I will be staying with BENTELER. Based on what I found out after being hired, it sounds like they hired the first person just so the individual could get into their new role as fast as possible without thinking about how the backfill would succeed coming into this role.
