Pros
Great view - although distorted from the huge atrium that blocked it! Friendly team - all in the same boat mentality.
Cons
Everything else. * Brokers are idiots and act accordingly. * Was verbally threatened at least once a day / physically attacked (attempted to anyway. but broker was too drunk!) once. * Pay is awful for all support staff. If you dont bring in cash, you are seen as an expense only and therefore not a valid human being. * outrageously high staff turnover in the support areas (Finance / Control / Audit / Brokerage Receivables) * No training allowance * Bonuses are poor and often in stocks which are immediately deferred for 3 years so you never really get any - and then when you come to sell, you have to spend a fortune in US tax and exchange fees before you get the GBP cash in. * Charity day on Sep11 each year is the biggest con in the City! Most brokers cancel and rebook all trades done on the 11th on the 12th so that the inflated commission goes into their pocket rather than any charity. Also they pay the charities in stocks and shares rather than just cash! * There is no work life balance. 7am, to 11pm is the norm. Once i had to walk from Lewisham to Canary Wharf in the snow or i would be sacked. Turned up to find i was one of only 3 people in the office. No thanks.
