Pros
-BISSELL is a fantastic company with deep roots in Michigan dating back to 1876. There is a palpable sense of pride in BISSELL products among those who work here. Associates really do care about the brand and the business. -Great corporate culture. Much more collaborative and easy going than other places I've worked. Very collegial atmosphere. No rivalries or back stabbing. -Solid senior leadership team. I have no doubt that they are steering our company in the right direction for future growth -Excellent work/life balance. You can have a good career at BISSELL and still have a fulfilling life outside of work. No one pulls all nighters here or works 80 hour weeks. There are normal peaks and valleys, of course, and certain functions do bear the brunt of having to interact with China during the evenings. Emails do occasionally come across during evenings/weekends as well that sometimes require action. But overall, the work/life balance is as good as you can expect it to be in a global, 21st century business environment. -Summer Hours, Casual Fridays, and the Company Cafeteria are also great perks to working at BISSELL!
Cons
-We are a lean company. As such, there are not layers upon layers of management. These things can be interpreted as strong positives. But they do tend to place some restrictions on opportunities for long-term career advancement at BISSELL. In certain functions, the math is simple: the only way for you to advance further once you get to a certain level is for your manager to leave, retire, or transfer to a new department. This is just a fact of life for a company our size that also actively keeps headcount additions to a minimum. Overall, I think the pros far outweigh this one con. But I know that some people have chosen to leave BISSELL over the years because they couldn't see a clear path to advancement, or they couldn't get people management experience until later in their careers than they'd like. It is an important consideration that we need to continue to look for ways to mitigate/improve
