Private company means no shareholder pressures

Cons

Insane work loads and hours. Pay equality questionable. Good old boys mentality. All male senior leadership. Wants to act like a CPG company, but isn't. Shows little appreciation for employees. Very high turnover rate (likened to McDonald's restaurants). Plummeting employee self-esteem/self worth. Very inflexible with work/life balance. Hiring many former P & G employees with major egos and attitudes.

The business remains one of the oldest family-owned companies in the US, that continues to see growth and success. There's transparency with results and we avoid the unnecessary fiscal exercises that are tied back to shareholder reporting with publically traded companies. The culture is one of respect and flexibility.

Cons

There are be some over conservatism at times, but the long history of success speaks for itself.
