Unconditional dog love most days, some flexibility on work arrangements, healthcare costs are low, but honestly, struggling to come up with upside. I genuinely think the real SVPs and the CEO care, but too much is leaning on a trove of director level minions.
Cons
I came to BISSELL under the guise that it would be a great career move, and opportunities would fall in my lap like shaking an apple tree, so long as I worked hard. I feel more like Sleeping Beauty, handed the poisonous fruit, falling into a spiral of morale malaise, blamed on influences which many leaders claimed were cyclical or unavoidable. Most rather wrought on by poor choices or planning. Culture here was good-- in the past, and it's a joke that they still tout this, especially as other businesses make actual pivots to attract talent. Paying 75 cents for coffee is not a perk. And how many times can a business eat fish in a week on the cafeteria menu? Even the menu got less exciting, which I guess I can blame on budget cuts. The work itself became repetitive and hard to improve, constantly chasing fires, and what seemed like low expectations were higher than the moon. Prepare to argue with leaders who really just complain about the optimal outcome but provide no understanding or solution as to how to achieve it. Constantly under-resourced, mostly with time. Question decisions which logically make no sense, especially with hiring and promotions- raises and promotions to under performers, however horizontal promotions for longer tenure employees. There is zero regard for retaining talent, and because of this and the lower starting wages (which is still leapfrogging employees who have been there longer), the average intelligence of your colleagues seems to drop constantly. Our leader literally told us that I'd you don't love the job, that nobody is forcing anyone to stay, and we're free to go. Unfortunately some leaders work for good money and have been at the company for 10+ years and aren't going to change. If you've worked here less than a year, don't bother putting up a review here. I'm blown away by these short reviews for 'no cons to think of yet'. Wait and get a full opinion on the company once the excitement does and your optimism is replaced with real cynicism. That was me and it didn't take long. Those who remain: start talking constantly with folks around the whole building, as that's the best way to avoid the gas-lighting. No wonder everyone is leaving.
