Pros

There are some really good people here if you know where to look. Half day fridays are nice and the cafeteria is awesome.

Cons

BISSELL used to be a great place to work unfortunately the companies leadership has destroyed the company. The current culture can only be described as toxic and the rate at which employees at all levels are abandoning ship reflects that. The biggest issue is the lack of accountability at the VP level. BISSELL operates like a small business and every aspect of a project is micromanaged. However, leadership will not make a clear decision and stick with it. Blame is always passed downward and communicated using intimidation. Only at BISSELL will a VP pass blame multiple levels down to a team member. Mid level managers all survive in CYA mode. They will not make a decision because they are to afraid of repercussions. I have never experienced a more negative culture than BISSELL's culture the last 2 years. The company is losing to its competition and the VP and above look for anyone but themselves to blame.

Pros

The business remains one of the oldest family-owned companies in the US, that continues to see growth and success. There's transparency with results and we avoid the unnecessary fiscal exercises that are tied back to shareholder reporting with publically traded companies. The culture is one of respect and flexibility.

Cons

There are be some over conservatism at times, but the long history of success speaks for itself.
