Pros

Great atmosphere for research and studies. Academic practices par excellence attracting brilliant students and great faculty members. The institute has taken on the challenges of time and is investing over 600 crores to build new facilities and refurbishing the existing infrastructure including IT.

Cons

Slow to change, away from civilization and best practices. Stuck with old processes and systems. Absence of a well integrated IT infrastructure and IT policies. Absence of super speciality hospital in Pilani or nearby is a cause for concern particularly for families with senior citizens. One has to go to Delhi or Jaipur which is 4 hours from Pilani.

Appears good from outside, but just the opposite once you go inside.

Cons

Bad and out-of-control students dictate the terms to the faculty members. There is no attendance requirement for the students. Many students do not attend classes and blame the faculty for their failure. They waste their time watching movies, playing games, etc. Many students indulge in drinking alcohol, smoking, and other bad habits. Several students cheat in the exams. The management always sided with the students and blame the faculty. A few of the heads of the departments derive pleasure in harassing younger faculty members. They play a lot of politics. They expect you to work all the time and no personal time. Service rules are dependent on how favorable you are with the management.
