Pros

Nice superiors everyone is like a family tight knit weekly pay

Cons

Entitled customers are allowed to threaten employees they make membership ambassadors managers ⭐ Do NOT recommend working at Club 258 (Delray Beach). If you see a job posting, run — don’t walk. I was hired as a cashier and trained in self-checkout at this location shortly after it opened. From the start, management was inconsistent and hostile. While helping with alcohol sales, a customer refused to show ID and complained about me simply for assisting at self-checkout. A closing manager (brought over from another club as a membership sales ambassador) told me to leave self-checkout customers alone entirely, then pulled my register productivity numbers MID-SHIFT and threatened my job for not being fast enough — while I was checking $50 bills for counterfeits with the detection pen, which is literally company policy. The store had been open for a week. I was moved to the front door, then to utility clerk pushing carts and helping members load water. Things went fine — members appreciated the help and I regularly received tips. Then a member aggressively confronted me while I was helping an elderly couple load water AT THEIR REQUEST, accused me of panhandling, cursed at me, gave me the finger, and pulled out mace. Management’s response? Nothing meaningful. Later, after I’d collected carts, an HR manager directed me to help a member load her car. The member snapped at me, claimed I was rushing her, and then aimed her car at me — I had to move out of the way. When I reported it to the closing manager and the HR manager, their response was to tell me to ‘be careful how you come across’ because I have tattoos. When the same member confronted me again while I was OFF THE CLOCK walking to my car, I responded verbally — witnesses confirmed her version of events was false, but I was terminated anyway. The member who nearly hit me with her car faced no consequences. The HR club coordinator was condescending while pretending to be nice: she tried to bar me from the break room vending machine, from eating in the break room, and from the employee water fridge. When I lost access to the UKG Pro scheduling app (Okta verification issue), she flat out told me other things were priority — so for SIX MONTHS I had to drive in the day before every shift just to learn my schedule, while starting at 6 AM. I requested my paid birthday day off well in advance per company policy; she ignored the request and scheduled me anyway. Employees are treated as disposable here. Customers can threaten you with mace or a vehicle and nothing happens, but you’ll be judged for your appearance and terminated when witnesses contradict a false complaint. Avoid this location.

Pros

• Weekly Pay • Decent enough benefits for full time

Cons

• The usual retail BS. I don't know what about going shopping people makes people act so poorly but it's very prevalent here. • Metrics are everything. How many membership upgrades and credit card applications are more important then anything else you can provide. We've had management actually accuse people of trying to sabotage store numbers during slow weeks. • Are more then willing to hire new, part-time employees at higher pay then what they are paying full-time employees who've stuck with the company. Hope you like only getting a 0.40-0.50 cent raise each year while a new hire who is treating this as a second job starts at $20 an hour. • Skeleton crew, especially in the afternoon/evening. If anyone in any department calls in, is fired, quits, or gets time off, be ready for the whole store to have to shift to compensate. • Give management an inch, they'll take a mile. If they think you have even an ounce of helpfulness or a need to be a team player, get ready for them to pile work on you, even scheduling you for jobs you didn't sign up for, including managerial work (sans the pay and benefits). • Little-to-no room for advancement. They would much rather hire in new team leads/managers then promote from within the store. This includes hiring people with zero retail or managerial experience. Or they'll just push the managerial work onto an employee and give them nothing in return. • No formal training/curriculum. You job-shadow a coworker for one 8 hour shift and that's it. And your first day will usually always be on a busy Sunday.
