Pros
Pay is decent. Also since it is healthcare management touts that layoffs are less likely in poor economic situation.
Cons
Senior management is clueless. The CEO (Steve Lipstien) of this non for profit company makes 1.9 million a year. He makes 1 million dollars a year more than the second highest paid CEO in town (president of Enterprise Rent-a-Car). Also the company is a hospital management firm. Which mean they get 10 year contracts to manage the hospitals. There are 14 hospitals in the system each one with it's own way of doing things. Senior management is so weak that a concensus can not be reached regarding corporate policies about software and systems. This results in endless amounts of money being wasted on duplicate purchases or incompatible software. Also promotions in IT are based on nothing more than a vote of senior management. Most of whom you will have never met. Essentially it is a good old boys club and only the friends and lackeys of management getting promoted. Many many tallented people leave the company each year for lack of fair treatment with regards to advancement. Stay away from this place if you have self respect. Part of my job was employee satisfaction surveys and if this was a bigger company I assure you they would be tops on the list of places not to work!
