company stability benefits package very little micromanaging
Cons
opportunities are tied to your salary band, and double salary band jumps are rare. depending on department (I was in sourcing), promotions are also rare. the hierarchical cultue is very difficult to overcome and is not progressive. BNSF has a bad habit of underhiring people. The company is very operations-centric, so you (with an MBA or JD, and 5-10 years business experience) could be hired in 3-4 salary bands lower than someone without a degree, but who came from the field.
