Pros
They offer 10k per year in tuition reimbursement each year, which covers about 1.5 semesters at Pitt each year. Nice way to get an MBA. Vacation is 2 weeks, but then you can buy a week. Plus you get bank holidays off.
Cons
It's ugly, guys. 15% of my department was laid off last week. They targeted mostly older people, people with families. Right before the holidays! I now have 35 clients that I am responsible for that I give incredibly crappy service to because I do not have any time to treat them well. I was really never trained, especially with new clients. It's always "Ok, by the way, you have to do XYZ starting today, figure it out yourself." I literally move millions of dollars around the globe every day, but they cannot spend any time or resources training us? Or afford to keep anyone around that has any idea of how to use the systems? Our clients still are paying way above market for increasingly terrible service. As of Monday, most of my job will be done in India, and I will most likely get 10+ new clients. It is unsustainable. People are walking out, every single person is actively looking for jobs, and most people start shouting obscenities at some point throughout the day. No one has taken a lunch in over a year, and no departments that we interact with are doing any better. Multiple groups are working Saturdays now, as well as daily overtime. Every single day, our systems are down. All of BNYM was unable to print for almost two weeks last month. Heck, our elevators don't even work! It's a rotten company, that is just taking a stronger nose dive down, instead of doing anything to help the situation out. And any employee that is bright, talented, ambitious, or hardworking? They will be gone within a year. BNYM is not interesting in cultivating talent. I asked my manager for growth and development opportunities, seeing as I am getting my MBA and am hardworking, talented and bright. She told me that I was too young, that I should stay in my current bad position for at least 2-3 more promotions before I move on. I'm pretty sure my department won't be in the USA in 2 years, let alone how long it would take to get a promotion in this company. When I showed her opportunities at BNYM that only required a bachelors, 2 years of experience, and a master's preferred, she told me that I was unqualified for such positions. How is that even possible? Half of the people I work with seem to be completely unaware of social norms. Yesterday, I heard an older white male colleague tell a much younger asian colleague that she should run for office. Wonderful, right? Except then he followed it up with, "I will be your campaign manager, and then tell everyone that you sexually harassed me, so you can fit in and be someone." I think this was a joke, but why does someone think that is even somewhat reasonable to say at work? This is the toxic environment you would find at BYNM.
