Pros

People are friendly and joke around Good 401k matching

Cons

No growth opportunities Very political Upper management does not give work when employee requests it. Takes 2-3 days for them to come up with one crappy ticket to work on that takes 3 hours. Upper management somehow discourages the employee from transferring to a team that might need them or has more work for the employee because they just joined the team as a manager and does not want to look bad. They give no work meanwhile and hand out bad reviews based on the lack of work the employee has, which makes transferring harder. Upper management does not invest in the employee. Technical issues based purely on machine space are neglected. Upper management gives false hope that there will be more projects, but then hires other resources at another location to handle those projects, leaving the rest of the teams to dry out.

Pros

Some of the internal platforms have dev teams that would rival any other tech company. Can learn a lot if you end up on one of those teams.

Cons

Completely crap shoot as to if you land on a good team or a completely incompetent one. If you're on a bad one good luck. On a bad team you can expect vague work requirements and huge work loads with unmanageable delivery timelines. Also they're outsourcing to India heavily. Also also, most senior management is completely out of touch with reality and don't understand the tech stack they own (more you interact with them the more frighteningly obvious it becomes). HR is completely incompetent, of course, it's an open secret at the bank.
