Pros

I have worked for BNY Mellon - Pershing for nearly a year. The overall environment was quiet featuring no stress or pressure from superiors, no tight deadlines or whatsoever. The team was great and helpful.

Cons

An employee is just a number there. The overall turnover for the time I spent there was around 30% - 40%. In my humble opinion, this is due to the poor rate of wage (compared to industry) and the lack of opportunity to grow. Most of my colleagues have been working there for five-plus years in the same positions without any hint of being promoted in the foreseeable future. The work-life balance is designed well for some people where the job role allows working from home one day a week. This wasn't in my case though.

Pros

Some of the internal platforms have dev teams that would rival any other tech company. Can learn a lot if you end up on one of those teams.

Cons

Completely crap shoot as to if you land on a good team or a completely incompetent one. If you're on a bad one good luck. On a bad team you can expect vague work requirements and huge work loads with unmanageable delivery timelines. Also they're outsourcing to India heavily. Also also, most senior management is completely out of touch with reality and don't understand the tech stack they own (more you interact with them the more frighteningly obvious it becomes). HR is completely incompetent, of course, it's an open secret at the bank.
