If you have a thick skin, this can be a good place to start your career and learn a lot. There are also some great people who work here and many offer a supportive ear.
Cons
Seeing the organization's most recent social media posts compelled me to finally speak up. First, the company utilizes dark UX to turn a profit. It's not unique in this industry, unfortunately, but it's worth mentioning. It's a shame because the product is actually pretty cool and there are opportunities to add value to subscribers without misleading them. In my opinion, there were some clarity and organizational issues amidst the company, though nothing shocking if you're accustomed to the tech world. Also, it's worth mentioning that the organization pressured current workers to leave positive Glassdoor reviews. Keep that in mind as you review. At least when I worked there, the organization had a strong culture of fear which resulted in bullying. I once watched a manager verbally abuse her direct report on the floor when it was well known throughout the office that the direct report was in the middle of a personal crisis. I also saw a perfect worker, truly, get passed over for promotions and berated when she dared to ask for feedback. (Some speculated her lack of upward motion was due to a racial bias, though it's not my place to confirm or deny that claim.) I saw a gay employee at lunch once make friendly small talk someone from HR and the HR rep ultimately shouted this person's sexuality across the crowded room. It wasn't exactly a secret, but the workplace is not the right location to loudly shout such matters. I also saw a well respected man apply for a promotion, upon recommendation, only to be treated as a non-option by his superiors. My understanding is that they even blew off his meeting to discuss the matter and didn't offer an excuse or apology, humiliating the man. I've heard rumors of people getting "managed out" when a significant personal problems arises without a PIP agreement or even a conversation first. In one case, I overheard an employee, who had been at the company for years, promising that they were happy to work on improving but they needed tangible feedback and their superior rolled his eyes and made a passive remark about not being able to provide it. Lastly, I was grossly underpaid the entire time I worked there. I understand how an anonymous internet comment may look, especially when much of what I wrote could be deemed gossip by an outsider. But I know that what I wrote is true. And I know that there were other witnesses for each event. You can choose to believe this or not, but I could not maintain a clean conscious if I stayed silent after seeing the most recent social media posts about mental wellness.
