Cons
This company has grown too much too fast. There are many people who claim they are managers. They don’t want to put any effort into the production aspect of any project. They think all they need is to ask middle or upper management to hire a whole bunch of junior engineers, mid-level engineers or designers to help him get a project quickly out the door. In the meantime, the junior or mid-level engineers or designers (new and existing) assume the role of a drafter. The senior engineers claim that it is not necessary to learn how to use any CAD software because they have these “drafters” at their disposal. The senior engineers are so lost into thinking that the objects magically place themselves on the drawings. There is no appreciation of the fact that these junior or mid-level engineers or designers are forced to demote themselves in front of these ruthless senior engineers. Another problem lies in the project managers. They make unrealistic promises to the clients claiming that they can put out a massive 3D rendering of a project. Then they have the project turned around in a short amount of time with little fee. Then of course the senior engineers are notified, who in turn gets all the “drafters” to work for them, while they sit around claiming to manage the junior engineers and designers. Standards in the office are a joke! It takes unrealistic demands in order to get any of the standards to appear on the drawings. The people who manage the standards ignore your request for improvements. They want you to use their standards which make absolutely no sense. They have a pile of standard blocks which are broken out into many files when it should be a single file. When you tell them the “logical” method of doing things, they tell you that it is the standard to do so.
