With the recent change in President, the culture has changed. Many of the best Directors and VPs have been driven out. The President and his cronies (particularly his #2) care less about the success of the company than about their own images in industry. They waste an inordinate amount of time on petty politicking, and are apparently incapable of strategic thinking (unless, like the Washington DC office, you cannot distinguish between strategy and marketing).
