Pros

- You'll gain a tremendous amount of HR knowledge in a relevantly short period of time because you have no other option. - You'll work with some incredible people, who are in the trenches with you day in and day out, so you get to know your colleagues very well. - Bambee does have a very diverse group of employees, which is rare in the tech space, but a majority of the diversity is at the lower levels, not upper management. - Decent benefits. - "Unlimited "PTO, - Average pay.

Cons

Don't fall for the lies that you'll be told during interviews or the great looking times on their "About Us" page. On the outside, everything seems like a fantastic place to work, but a majority of the people in those pictures or videos ran for the hills or were unceremoniously fired shortly after. There were 2 major layoffs during my time there (which I somehow survived both) where they let go of 10-20% of the company each time, with a majority of them being the HR Account managers (those who interact with the customers the most), leaving the remaining employees to pick up all of the extra work. "Stick it out for a couple weeks" is what you'll be told when times are tough, but times are always tough there and weeks will turn to months with little to no relief. You'll be working 10-12 hour days every day, regardless of what they tell you. Your "shift" is usually 9 hours (7am-4pm, 8am-5pm, or 9am-6pm) with an hour "lunchbreak" (which you'll use to catch up every single day) and then you go home and work more to catch up with emails and messages since you're going to be on the phone for a majority of your day, even though you're judged on how quickly you reply to a message. So your 9 hour shift turns into 12 on a very regular basis, not counting commuting since they don't allow remote work. When you hear account manager, you may think you'll have between 20-50 accounts, but you'll have at least 300 clients by the time you're "ramped up" and if you're doing well at your job, you'll be rewarded with more clients (i.e. 400-500) until you beg your manager to take you off of the rotation of getting new clients; which you'll get maybe a week or 2 break before being put back on rotation. There's little to no training given either. The trainers do not have HR experience. Your managers do not have HR experience. You literally have to learn on the fly, from your colleagues, or maybe the compliance team (if they haven't gutted that department by now), so there's no real career opportunities there. You just get more clients with higher employee counts, with a minimal pay increase. Nearly all of the management on the HR Accounts side has no HR experience, so you can't really escalate issues or ask for help, they don't know the answers, so you'll spend a ton of time researching answers to questions on your own. Want to take a vacation? Better hope your overworked colleagues are ready to take on more work by taking care of your clients. Same for you when they want to take a vacation. You're guilted into taking on more work so one of your colleagues can get a little break. When they say unlimited, they mean you'll get very few holidays off (because you have to "volunteer" to work several of them) and if you're lucky, you'll get 1 week of time off during the year. They claim it's unlimited so they don't have to pay it out when they fire you. You don't get unlimited sick time either, that's tracked to the minute, and if you take more, they'll try to reduce your pay. If you're an HR Account Manager, you're judged heavily on your CSAT score, which is NOT an accurate way to measure performance, like at all. Have an upset customer because the sales team oversold them on what you can actually do? Too bad. If you're lucky, MAYBE you'll be able to petition to have it removed, or you can try to risk it and have them submit a new review; if it's positive, it'll cancel out the old one, if it's negative, then you have 2 negative scores to deal with. Drop below their arbitrary thresholds that are made up each month? You're put on a PIP, with little to no "improvement" plan implemented. Still on a PIP at the end of the quarter? You're fired. Nearly all of the top-performing HR account managers are remote and have been for a long time (hired during the COVID pandemic when offices were shut down) yet they refuse to allow employees to work remotely, except those grandfathered into it. You're answering emails, chats, and phone calls all day, you DO NOT need to be in the office. You're there so your manager can micro-manage everything you do. Upper management is a joke. There's 1 or 2 folks who actually know what they're doing and the rest of them pretend to know what they're talking about and do nothing but come up with outlandishly bad ideas on ways they can get more money from the customers with no regard on how it'll impact anyone else. I understand that companies need to change to meet the needs of their customers, but management here is one of the worst groups I've ever seen in my 20+ year career. Bambee claims to "promote from within" all the time, which is technically true, but it's the same people over and over, who don't deserve promotions, especially into the roles they're put into. Some people will claim to have had 10+ roles at the company, but they never do any of them well, except apparently playing the office politics game. Most have no management experience and are extremely poor leaders in general. Bambee would rather spend 50k on a "customer event" where about 10 Los Angeles based Bambee customers were brought to an event space and made to feel special (these weren't the top customers, most engaged customers, just 10 customers who said yes and lived in the LA area) than give employee's raises, hire more employees, or anything actually beneficial to the business. Bambee likes to pretend they're a big, well-loved, and cherished company, who's helping the average business-owner, but they're not. The executive team will also go on "executive retreats" multiple times a year, to vacation destinations (Hawaii, Montana, etc.) while they actively do large scale lay-offs due to budget concerns. I brought serious customer security concerns to my manager and was told to stay in my lane instead. I brought up risks to the company that could have huge impacts to the customers and was told outright, that it's cheaper to have the customer cancel their account or sue us than it would be to implement any kind of fix. They would rather the customer be out of compliance than take responsibility for poor platform choices. The platform itself is a joke. Nearly all of the policies they implement are stolen from SHRM, word for word. HR Managers are told to tell customers that it takes days or weeks to craft custom policies for their business, but again, it's basic policies that are stolen from SHRM, with a few automations that'll insert the company name into it. That's it. Other business offerings are extremely basic or just lifted from other companies: - Policies: Stolen from SHRM (without the legitimate copyright payments as well) - Trainings: Taken from Simplify Training and up-sold to customers. - Job Descriptions: Stolen from SHRM or various other websites. - Payroll: Actually processed and handled through Check - Benefits: This hasn't been implemented yet, but I guarantee it's through another company. - Chat/email support: Usually entry-level positions who are constantly asking HR managers for help and/or Googling what they think is the right answer. Some of the HR managers are SHRM or PHR certified, but a majority of them are not. Bambee will claim their HR managers are "certified" but all that means is that they got through onboarding without running for the hills. HR Managers are often told to lie to their customers about their number of years of HR experience. 7 years was the go-to number, but a majority of the HR account managers have FAR less experience. That doesn't mean they're not hard working, smart, or competent individuals, it's just another deceitful way Bambee tries to trick their customers. For Bambee being an HR company, they have nearly no internal HR practices. The CPO is a joke. They don't follow any best practices that they preach to customers. It's legitimately horrible how bad their internal HR practices are, to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if there's multiple lawsuits against the company. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere unless you're ready for 60+ hour workweeks, a hostile work environment led by inexperienced managers, and dealing with upset customers day in and day out for barely above minimum wage.

Pros

I am genuinely grateful to work at Bambee. One of the things I appreciate most is that I don't feel like I'm simply working for the company, I feel like I'm part of the business, and that my contributions are recognized and valued. Bambee is highly innovative and always looking ahead, especially when it comes to HR technology and software solutions. The company has a strong presence across the U.S. and continues to evolve in ways that benefit both employees and clients. The team culture is supportive, collaborative, and inclusive. Leadership is hands-on, approachable, and invested in employee success. The work environment is relaxed yet productive, and the office spaces are modern and welcoming. Overall, it's a place where people are encouraged to grow, contribute, and make an impact.

Cons

As with any fast-growing and innovative company, priorities and processes can evolve quickly. This can sometimes require employees to adapt to change at a rapid pace, but these changes are generally made with the company's long-term vision and growth in mind.
