Great co-workers and pay, but profit-driven focus - Veterinary Assistant Banfield Pet Hospital Employee Review

Pros

Great co-workers and competitive pay

Cons

The company is more concerned with signing pet owners up on Wellness Plans and making sure their doctors meet production goals than they are with pet health. The location I worked for actually started charging owners without a wellness plan a fee for blood draws, and x-rays that required two people to complete. From a safety standpoint all blood draws and x-rays, unless a pet is sedated should require two staff members to complete. This fee is not being assessed to owners who are on wellness plans. It really seems like they are just in it for the money and not the health and welfare of the animals they serve.

Pros

Supportive paid training, clear communication, excellent hardware for doing your job, remote positions available, Diversity and Inclusion is valued and openly discussed, pets and clients are valued.

Cons

Collections no matter how you phrase it is hard, this position requires cold calling customers that are past due on their wellness plans, Commission based dependent on how much you collect, short lunches, encouraged to not take PTO
