Pros
Benefits for own pets. Hours. Medicine practiced.
Cons
Overworked. Never get out on scheduled time due to management pushing 25+ pets per doctor, but get in trouble for staying over. Burned out. They wrap the idea of helping more pets but it always boils down to making more money and gaining more clients. Not respected by clients. Feel punished and guilty for asking vacation time or any personal time/day off. Don't earn anywhere enough for the amount of work we do. Not enough employees to help manage a busy hospital, yet if we don't see at minimum 20 pets per doctor, they cut staff and were stuck going overtime which then we get yelled at for as well. Management and lead techs switching employee schedule without asking. Appointments that should be with the doctor are switched by management to tech appointments which burns out our technicians and frustrates clients who were expecting to see a doctor. The excuse is "oh we will make it work." Insurance benefits, which are BCBS, cover almost nothing. You have to pay $10,000 in medical bills a year before it covers anything for the year. Takes $200 out of my paycheck every week but covers next to nothing if you have to go to the doctor. Had a $600 medical bill and the insurance paid $15 only! Also this company is open almost every day of the year. Open on Sundays instead of off like most vet clinics. We are not emergency clinic. Have to work most holidays including Easter, 4th of July etc. Only Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years is off. Did I say burned out?
