Pros

Potential to make a good income. Good co-workers (at least in my office).

Cons

Very rigid work schedule - Must be in the office on Tuesdays & Fridays making at least 100 outbound sales calls. Must book 8 appointments a day for Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. Captive agent selling only Bankers Life, Colonial Penn and Humana products. Clients who comparatively shop will find as good a product (health & life insurance) in the marketplace at much cheaper rates. Product line is very limited. Terrible sales lead system. Free leads are years old on prospecive clients who have been called at least a dozen times over that period. Paid leads ($7) are non-exclusive. You may have paid $7 for a lead that has also been sold to another agent in the company. The "turning 65" list is a public list that is available to every health insurance company in America - and every company (including your own fellow agents) is calling them. New agents complain about slow initial compensation payments. You should have a good reserve of your own money before relying on the Bankers initial commissions. Empahsis on making the outbound sales calls and not teaching new agents how to book the appointment or close the sale. "Make the 100 calls, book the 8 appointments a day and everything will fall into place". Doesn't work well without prior sales or insurance experience.

Pros

Bankers provides award winning training, an elaborate product portfolio and a rapidly growing market. They leverage cutting edge technology: contact and LEAD management, electronic business submission, an incredible proprietary mobile application. I have 11 companies I can be appointed with - making sure my clients get the best program for what they NEED. A great opportunity to receive great training, work with great people and make a great living, all for helping people.

Cons

This opportunity is just that, an opportunity. Those who don't take advantage of it won't think it is a good one. Even successful people deal with a ton of rejection, thick skin is needed. With a 40% closing ratio, I still hear "No" more than "Yes".
