Pros

Many facilities. This is a big pro. Many opportunities within the Banner network due to the vast amount of facilities. Management opportunities Very focused on patient satisfaction. Great co-workers Supportive front line management (varies from department to department) Caring staff Modern facilities Latest technology (e-ICU, medication scanning, total electronic charting...)

Cons

Inadequate staffing (over the years, Banner has continuously decreased support staff, and the patient acuity is higher then ever. In some facilities, they have even raised the patient to nurse ratios making the work load unmanageable). Uncaring upper management (Varies from facility to facility) Tuition reimbursement only given to some employees. Not a true benefit. Anyone can apply for tuition reimbursement, but they only award it to some of its employees. Even if you meet all the qualifications (approved program, employee in good standing, full-time...), you can still be turned down without being given a reason. I was turned down twice even though I met all of the qualifications. This conveys a message that education is not valued. 4 hour push back. If the census is low, management can call you at home before your scheduled shift, and put you on a 4 hour push back. This means that you do not come in for your scheduled shift, but instead, you stay home by the phone (without pay) waiting for them to call you for up to 4 hours just in case they need you to come in on your already scheduled shift. If they dont call you, then you are officially canceled for your regularly scheduled shift. Automatic paycheck deduction for health care. In order to get health benefits from Banner, you have to sign an agreement stating that they can automatically deduct from your paycheck any owed amounts (deductibles, co-pays, uncovered services) anytime you use a Banner facility or provider.

Pros

This review isn't about the pros of working for Banner Medical Group.

Cons

The last couple of years with BMG, many current and former leaders have encountered ongoing challenges related to the senior leadership team's (Ops Directors and above) behavior and accountability. Expectations and disciplinary actions are not applied consistently, and when disciplinary actions are applied, it is retaliatory for speaking up about these inconsistencies. This has created a culture of distrust and fear between the clinic leadership teams and Ops Directors/Senior Ops Directors. It also goes against Banner's "If you see something, say something" campaign. The HR team has also contributed to the growing fear and distrust by not following their own guidelines, and by the ERC's showing their bias against leaders through their tone of voice when talking with you, baseless accusations against leadership, and approving corrective actions that are vague and missing specific details of the incident that someone is being written up for. It also raises concerns amongst clinic leaders when multiple leaders bring forward the same concerns and issues about Ops Directors over a lengthy period of time and we're told, "we couldn't corroborate your concerns." And when multiple leaders provide ample evidence (Chronological Management Records, Teams chats, email chains, etc.) to disprove these false accusations and you're still placed into corrective action, the word corruption starts to become applicable.
