Pros

Lots of autonomy (COVID has improved this and reduced micro-managing). The variety of clients is refreshing, and there is always something to do providing you are a self-starter. This job is a right fit if you are well-rounded/versed in several areas (H/R, EE development. coaching, finance, operations, etc...). An experienced HRBP / Manager is a great fit if you enjoy talking on the phone - you become the "hotline" for your client. The company recently GREATLY improved its benefits to be in-line with current market offerings. A new CEO came into place in early 2020 - and I have seen a lot of positive things happen since.

Cons

It's a great place to work - but there are 4 cons. 1) As in all places, there are some office politics, and power struggles that don't need to exist. There is an attempt to make one member of a team be a "leader" even though this is not part of the position / job description - and all players on the team are to be treated as equals. This one issue causes strife amongst a large portion of the workforce. But it can be easily overcome if you don't let yourself get pushed around. 2) Once you are hired, your salary is set. The company currently does not have a method for keeping salaries at market meridians. Your pay is supplemented by profit sharing and bonuses. There are some disparities with this method, but the company has been working to make this more equitable. 3)Offices. Everyone works in pods with their team, and it can be very noisy and hard to have a phone conversation or even concentrate. Of course, this varies with personalities, but overall it is a widely complained about issue. 4) Lack of diversity in executive leadership.

Pros

Great team environment with supportive coworkers who are always willing to help and collaborate. Working with a variety of clients provides valuable networking opportunities and exposure to different industries, making it a great place to build professional relationships and expand your experience.

Cons

Leadership has declined significantly compared to previous management. A major concern is the lack of trust shown toward employees, which has led to an environment where people feel micromanaged rather than empowered to do their jobs effectively. Previous leadership encouraged open communication, listened to employee feedback, and fostered a culture of mutual respect and accountability. In contrast, employee concerns and suggestions are often not acknowledged or acted upon, leaving many feeling unheard and undervalued. There is a noticeable lack of meaningful listening and engagement from management, which has contributed to low morale and a growing disconnect between leadership and staff. The overall work environment has become increasingly negative, with a culture that does not consistently promote trust, collaboration, or professional growth. Additionally, there have been instances of inappropriate jokes and comments that create discomfort among employees, further contributing to a workplace culture that can feel unprofessional, unwelcoming, and unsupportive.
