Pros
Smart Technical Professionals Flexible start times - Work From Home If you are an SME and enjoy working in the same role for many years, small company could work for you Many opportunities for European employees to transfer offices for assignments in the U.S.
Cons
Lack good leaders. People are promoted to management based on tenure in a role, in lieu of leadership skills and other important competencies. Culture inconsistency - employees are told that Basware is one of the most sought after companies in the U.S. to work for and it's not genuine. The Human Resources department and local managers force employees to complete the surveys and there's also a sense of "bribery" by treating employees to lunch and issuing small trinkets as gifts immediately prior to them completing the surveys. In former companies and current company, it has always been "optional". Basware is a Finnish company with offices in the U.S. and that might explain the reason there is minimal focus on "inclusion" and community involvement at the company. There is a need for Diversity training within the company. It is a male dominated in some U.S. locations and I had the misfortune of witnessing several male co-workers inappropriately communicate with and talk about female co-workers and women at-large.
