Pros

It was a job in the city. The people there were nice. You got a half hour lunch and two five-to-ten-minute breaks.

Cons

It only paid $15 an hour Management was everywhere and they never all properly introduced themselves. If you wanted to talk to one of them, you had to ask around to find out who they were and then search for them. There was no real chain of command. I was hired as an associate when I applied for a merchandising position. The ad also stated that the job included travel between 3 cities and this turned out to be false. It was a highly stressful environment. They had you empty all of your pockets before you left for a break or the end of the day. They needed to check inside any bags, your wallet, any pockets in either of those, even inside your water bottle if it was a dark colour. They were so convinced their employees were going to steal from them that they basically search you before you can go. They also "highly recommend" that you sign every single customer up for the rewards program no matter what. If the customer isn't a member, you don't ask them if they want to sign up for it, you just sign them up for it.

Pros

Generous pay for management, paid holidays and maternity leave for full timers, good benefits. Treats us more like humans than any other business I’ve ever worked for

Cons

Work/life balance can be hard, especially around the holidays

Pros

Great brand to work for! Corporate leaders are great at motivating team down to associate level. (Not sure about Daniel yet though, I’m mostly referring to the tentured leadership team) There’s access to tools that offer clear communication (almost too much communication sometimes). Development is the core of this brand and managers are trained to foster internal talent when it’s identified. The product sold here is cherished by a huge fanbase as well- customers feed off of the excitement the associates have around the product.

Cons

Operationally demanding and challenging; don’t underestimate how much labor and planning goes into selling candles and lotion.
